Each Fall, the Chamber hosts the Celebration of Progress to showcase new and upcoming commercial developments on the East Side, to celebrate the success of Chamber member businesses, and to raise funds for annual scholarships given to East High, North High and Grand View students. Where: Grand View University: 1200 Grandview Avenue ~ (515) 263-2800 Place: Jaina Johnson Conference Room, Rasmussen Building, 2nd floor. (corner of E. 14th and Boyd. Parking is available behind the building on Boyd street)  

Presentation 8:15-8:45: Grand View Update given by Grand View President Kent Henning.

Topics include: New residence hall, enrollment growth for 2010, athletic success, faculty/staff presentation update. Breakfast will be hosted courtesy of Grand View University's Advancement Office

Annual Community Awards: Nominations due Sept. 15th, 2010

Celebrate the community spirit of East Des Moines by recognizing the Outstanding Contributions of its Citizens and Businesses. The East Des Moines Chamber is accepting nominations for the following award categories:

 

Volunteer of the Year: An individual that has given freely of his/her time, talent, and energy to the East Des Moines community.

Criteria:

  • Nominee gives selflessly to their community without monetary gain.
  • Nominee who gives time and resources for the chamber and community organizations.
  • Nominee that goes above and beyond to for the betterment of the chamber and other community organizations.
  • Nominee must be an employee of a chamber member or reside in East Des Moines.

 

Neighborhood Group of the Year: This organization shows exemplary leadership in tackling neighborhood issues.

Criteria:

  • Nominee brings neighbors together
  • Nominee creates community cohesiveness while supporting neighbors
  • Nominee works cooperatively with government and other entities to accomplish its goals (attach separate sheet if needed).
